Reduce your tuition bill
When scholarships, grants, loans and alternative funding still aren't making the cost of tuition manageable, there are still additional ways you can lower your student's tuition bill while exposing them to unique experiences at the same time.
Advanced placement
Taking college-level classes in high school may be an option for your child. Students, who pass the placement exams with a high score, could test out of some college courses. This might allow for early graduation or provide the opportunity for your child to take additional courses in their major.
Students should contact their high school to find out if their scores will count toward college credits in an intended major. (One school may accept a certain score while another may require a higher score.) Talk with a high school guidance counselor for more information.
Community college
Community colleges offer 2-year liberal arts programs or specific career training programs at a lower cost than most 4-year public and private colleges. Upon graduation from a Community college, students receive a certificate or an associate's degree. Many students then transfer to a 4-year college or university to continue their education.
